I print a lot of my photos on fabric and use them in varying ways in my work. Last year I channeled my inner 8 year old and wrote a letter to Santa asking for my very own flywheel. This year I will try that strategy again and ask him for Photo Shop. I have used the editing program and love what I can do with it and know there is so much more to learn and so many ways for my pieces to evolve if I have it at my disposal.
These photos were taken on a canoe trip on a lovely lake near Port Elgin, NB. We usually make a trip or two there every year and often see beavers, eagles, frogs and even the odd fish, as well water lilies in abundance. I think my photos reflect the tranquility and peacefulness to be found there.
Today I am hitching my blogger wagon to The Needle and Thread Network. It is great fun to see what everyone else has been up to - check them out! There are lots and lots of Canadian bloggers represented there.

Another photo of mine printed on fabric as well as two mono prints, the one on the left mounted on solid black cotton |

Oooh! The mono print - what a GREAT way to do sky! Wow it's brilliant.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to TN&TN by the way! Please add your name to the Feature Friday list okay?

Very cool! Great info. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteVery nice work....this is the first time I've seen your posts. I live just south of you by the Hopewell Rocks Park....nice to meet you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely blog. I want to learn more about photoshop and you give great incentive with you photos.
ReplyDeleteThe potential is limitless with imagery on fabric! I'm interested to see how you use these photos that you have printed.
ReplyDeleteI found the next newest version of PhotoShop on ebay (brand new) for a reasonable price. Most people don't need all the latest bells and whistles, and now I see that I am 3 versions behind, and it still has more features than I will ever learn to use!
The first idea that popped into my mind on seeing what you are doing with a computer and printer was "so much to learn, so little time". Good luck with that wish list for Santa. ;-)
ReplyDeleteLooks spectacular! I think it's something I would like to try someday. Thanks for sharing with us!
ReplyDeleteThe mono prints are especially beautiful!! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
ReplyDeleteThanks! The process is really a simple one and fairly addictive to be honest! haha
ReplyDeleteThanks!! I was pretty honest in my letter writing as I said that I was always happy with what I received but that I was happiest receiving what I wanted.....I did hear via the elves that was the line that pushed all the right buttons! And yes, I agree with you - so much, so much to learn and try ourselves! I get breathless when I think about it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the eBay tip! And I certainly don’t need the most up to date version - there is so much you can do with a very basic version. The possibilities......oh my!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I really enjoy your blog as well!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! And nice to meet you, too! You certainly live in a beautiful area - lots of inspiration along those shores!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much!
ReplyDeleteThanks! The mono printing is super simple when you use your fingers as I did! And then I fussy cut the part of the print I liked to achieve the effect I wanted.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for the invite - I will add my name!
I also use my photos as my design source and print on fabric. Sometimes I use it directly for a small project. Did you realize that Kauai Creek is 4 enlarged pieces of one photograph (photoshop). The heavy stitching allows me to bury the joins. I have an epson that does 11" x 17'.
ReplyDeleteI did realize that and the woman with your show - Thelma maybe? - mentioned it as well. It is very effective!! Oh - and I love checking out all your posts re Kauai! We travelled to Maui last February for 3 weeks (though Kauai was my first choice) and enjoyed it so much! The sunsets were spectacular, the sunrises the same, the people so friendly, the food amazing - all organic!, and the waters...oh my.....81 beaches and 21 days! We did the best we could!! Everyone should visit at least one of the islands in their lifetime!
